How To Start PC in Safe Mode (Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10)

If you are troubleshooting some problems of your computer then you will need to start PC in safe mode. Windows OS provides the safe mode of the operating system with administrator privilege with minimal interface. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting option that limits Windows operation to basic functions this is why it is not for regular use. There are different mode or option for the safe for different purposes. Here is the list of three variations of Windows Safe Mode you may enter:

1. Safe Mode – This is the default option and the most basic choice. It will load the operating system with only core drivers and services that are needed to just load the Windows.

2. Safe Mode with Networking – This option loads the same processes but also allow the networking functions. You can access the Internet or your local network in this mode while troubleshooting.

2. Safe Mode with Command Prompt – This mode also loads a minimum set of processes but it will allow you to access to Command Prompt.

Start Windows 7/Vista/XP in Safe Mode

  • First of all restart your computer and wait for the Windows to load.
  • Start pressing F8 button before Windows XP splash screen shows.
  • Advanced Boot option will soon appear on your computer screen.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the version of Safe Mode you want to access and press ENTER.

Start Windows 7/Vista/XP in Safe Mode

  • Press “Windows + C” key together on your Keyboard and then click Settings.

  • Click Power, hold down Shift on your keyboard and then click Restart.

  • Now select the Troubleshoot from the list of options that appear on screen.

  • Then select the Advanced options from the Troubleshoot menu.

  • Next select the Startup Settings from the Advanced options.

  • When the Advanced options appear on your screen then click on Restart button.

  • Now press 5 to start your PC in Safe Mode with networking.

Start Windows 10 in Safe Mode

  • Click Start button and then click on Power button.

  • Now hold the Shift on your keyboard and click Restart.

  • Now select the Troubleshoot from the list of options that appear on screen.

  • Then select the Advanced options from the Troubleshoot menu.

  • Next select the Startup Settings from the Advanced options.

  • Click on Restart button when the Advanced options appear on your screen.

  • Now press 5 to start your PC in Safe Mode with networking.

Second Method : Universal For All Windows (XP/Vista/7/8/10)

  • Press “Windows Key and R” buttons on your keyboard.

  • Type “msconfig” into Run box and click OK button.

  • “System configuration box” will appear on your PC.

  • Go to “boot” tab and select “safe boot” option and press “Ok”.

Note : If you want to exit the Safe Mode then you follow the same process and uncheck the safe mode options.
